Shaquille O’Neal with his graduate degrees

Graduating (

Shaquille O’Neal was born on March 6, 1972, in Newark, New jersey. He was an athlete, actor and musician. He graduated from Cole High School in San Antonio, Texas. He went to Louisiana State University. He went on to become one of the most dominant players in the NBA.

Because of this, he earned a nickname of “Shaq”. Shaquille earned two graduate degrees. Not only did he go to Louisiana State University, but he went back to Barry University, a private Catholic institute in Florida in 2005 and devoted a great deal of time to education. He went to get his Master of Business administration degree. Shaq went back to his studies saying “One, I promised my parents I would follow my passion for education. Two, i wanted to continue my education and three, I wanted to challenge myself.”

He wanted to go back but he said that the hardest part was getting back into high school mode. He graduated from Barry University with a 3.81 grade point average and he also completed sixteen courses mostly using satellite classrooms and video conferencing with the university. Shaquille said that after retiring from the NBA after 19 seasons on the court, he is not even looking back and he does not miss playing the game because he got a new walk, a doctor’s walk. Shaquille wants to eventually be a motivational speaker and plans to go to law school. He also said that now becoming a doctor, no one can call him “Shaq” anymore. The entertainer and former basketball star went to the University of Pheonix, UoP, but started to get many sarcastic remarks afterwards. But he also received some serious remarks about it as well. From these many remarks, many other people were firing back with many other sarcastic and serious remarks about the topic. He just needed to focus on his education. He said, It doesn’t matter how much money you make. The real question is, are you educated enough to KEEP IT.”  Many people really don’t realize how important it is to get a “accredited” University education. It’s not just about books and exercising your brain. You learning how to articulate yourself, present yourself and to interact with multiple people of different backgrounds of races, cultures and belief systems. Many people have been very impressed with how much Shaquille O’neal has accomplished and are very inspired as well.
