There are many causes as to why people suffer from alcoholism. They may be having a bad day at their job all the time, and they think drinking will solve their problems or make the pain go away. But this can all change. Their attitude can change by going to rehab or getting help anywhere. The problem is that alcoholism is so bad that it ruins the insides of your body, like it can lead to liver damage and causes your immune system to weaken which can lead you to get cancer or having a high risk of getting it. When you drink alcohol more than your body can usually take can lead to some side effects to your body like having heart problem: Cardiomyopathy, Arrhythmias, stoke or even high blood pressure. Your pancreas makes a toxic chemicals and this leads to the inflammation of your blood vessels and doesn’t let you produce the digestion of you food well enough. It weakens your immune system and it makes you a target to have a disease which can also lead to have a higher risk to get cancer in your mouth, esophagus, throat, liver. It also affects your brain and it cuts some of the pathways in your nerves and makes you have a change in mood, and you don’t think clearly or have some memory loss. Many people suffer from mental illness like anxiety, and depression either one at a time or progressively when they start drinking more.


Alcoholism is an addiction that you when drinking alcoholic beverages mess with your mind making you not think that you have a problem when in reality you do or it causes you to have a bad behavior depending on the person. According to National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), “1 in 12 American Adults is an alcohol abuser or alcoholic. The American Psychological Association says that young adults ages 18 to 29 are mostly likely to have a problem.” And statistic show that the year 2013 in the United states about 86.8 percent of people mostly 18 years of age or older say that they have drank alcohol in there life. About 16.6 million people that are the ages 18 or older had an AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) in 2013, which is 9.4 percent from the men and 4.7 percent of the women in that age group. Teenages from the ages 12-17 have an estimate that about 697,000 that have an AUD which is also in the year 2013.  Many people are being affected by this espicially in the young age, now that there is per presure at schools and outside of schools. Statistics show that it’s being the third leading cause of death in the united states with about 88,000 people dieing because of it.

Studys say that more than 10 percent of the children in the U.S. live with parent that have an alcohol problem. This affects the children live in the household. Which causes then to have a bad influence on them and may have a higher risk of them have an alcohol problem in the future.

You can get help by going to rehab centers or getting psychological help. There are many help facilities around the globe. 58% of the people that have gone to rehab came out with a better behavior. There are also motivatioal intervention groups that help people boost there thought on quiting drinking and getting a better life.

Some have argured that it’s ok for people not to get help or they can choose there own decision, but in reality they need to get help so they can’t harm anyone else more than they are harming themselves.
