There are around one billion people enjoying its service. Its supports Android, iPhones, and Windows Phones.

Recently, WhatsApp announced its free ‘Video Calling’ feature that enables WhatsApp users to see their loved ones on their devices while talking to them. Although, this feature was highly expected from WhatsApp since the Whatsapp users had been requesting it for several years. “We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. There’s no substitute for watching your grandchild take her first steps, or seeing your daughter’s face while she’s studying abroad. And we want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.

After you receive an update from WhatsApp, it will have the free video calling feature. If you want to try, you can try out the video calling feature by tapping the call icon. Before this update, when you press the call icon, it simply started the simple voice call. But now, two options will pop up; Video call and Voice call. Tapping on the ‘Video Call’ option will start a video chat with the WhatsApp user you wanted to call. While you are video chatting, you can switch between the rear and front camera of your device. Plus there is a mute button that enables you to mute what is being said through the microphone if you don’t want the other person to hear what is being said. And there is a red button that hangs up the call. The video quality in WhatsApp will be very clear, as the WhatsApp audio quality proves it.

With the new free video calling feature, WhatsApp comes on par with other messaging apps like Facebook, Messenger, Skype, Viber and Google Handouts etc. Plus video calls made through WhatsApp are fully encrypted to stop unauthorized access from snoopers.
