Windows remain covered on the bakery in downtown Nampa that has the public in anticipation for due to the delicious foods and the reputation built by the same owner’s pizzeria, Messenger. This spring in downtown Nampa, the owners of Messenger Pizza, will be opening a bakery. The owners, Shawn and Cassidy McKinley plan to open Savage Baking Company on 1226 First St. S, and plan to open this month or early April. They were issued a commercial building permit in December for electrical and plumbing improvements for the 8,400 square foot space. The McKinleys plan to manage both the bakery and the pizzeria but the bakery will have more limited hours . “We have been blessed with great employees at messenger.” Cassidy McKinley said in an email to the Idaho Press Tribune. Messenger’s philosophy has been to use quality, local ingredients in all their cuisine, and to strive to refrain from genetically modified ingredients. They serve pizza by slice, whole pies, sandwiches and a variety of craft beers, sodas and local wine according to their website at messengerpizza.com. Savage Bakery will have a similar philosophy. The Bakery will primarily serve breakfast foods in their menu. They will bake and serve organic naturally leavened breads and pastries to go with its breakfast and lunch menu. The breakfast and lunch menu includes French toast, omelets with eggs from Vogel Farms country market in Kuna, croissant sandwiches, breakfast burritos from house made tortillas, soups, sandwiches, and salads. There will also be an antipasto bar and it will serve beverages from Stumpton Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon. The bakery will be open from 7 a.m – 3 p.m. Monday -Saturday once it opens.
