If you’ve been around basketball in recent years, you will have certainly heard of the 2nd year NBA player this year, Luka Doncic. Luka has been so incredible that every time he does something eye-catchingly magnificent the fans affectionately call it “Luka Magic”.
Luka Doncic had a truly spectacular rookie season last year. In which, he won the Rookie of the Year award. Through the first couple games of this season he has averaged 26.7 points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game, and 9.1 assists per game. If he keeps this up, he’ll surely have an All-Star caliber season.The last rookie to have as impressive numbers as this in their first couple of seasons was LeBron James. So the question has to be asked, will Luka become the next big star in the NBA? At 20 years old, Luka is extremely young to be at the point he is now in the NBA, starting point guard for the Dallas Mavericks. This means he has even more time to grow and get improve his game and become even better than players before him.
And this season, the Dallas Mavericks added Kristaps Porzingis, a talented big man to help Luka on his way to NBA history. The Mavericks improving their team will only give more oppurtunities for Luka to prove that he’s the prodigy for the next big NBA star.
This year, the mavericks will have a good chance of making the playoffs with their top players. In addition, there is a rumor that star point guard Chris Paul, who is currently playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder could potentially be traded to Dallas before the trade deadline this season. The edition of Chris Paul would surely skyrocket Dallas into the top ranks of the league and would help them make the playoffs.
On Friday November 1st, Luka Doncic, 20 year old guard for the Dallas Mavericks, became the youngest player in NBA history to record a 30 point triple double in one game. He finished with 31 points 13 rebounds and 15 assists. The previous holder of this record was LeBron James who did so in April 2005 for the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is an incredible personal accomplishent for Luka. It’s rare enough for someone to achieve a triple double and even more impressive for him to have 30 points as well.
Therefore with his spectacular stats recently and with the Mavericks adding more and more talented veterans to support Luka on his quest to make NBA history.
